48mm (1 7/8") Blue Silicone Radiator/Intercooler Hose

48 mm (1 7/8") is the size people come looking for when a 50 mm hose is loose on the pipe and a 44 mm will not go on. Imperial-sized boost pipe and older radiator outlets land on 1 7/8" often enough that it is worth stocking as its own bore rather than forcing a neighbour. It is a coolant and charge air hose: the supplier states it is not suitable for fuel or oil transfer.

Compatibility and fitting

• Smooth band and T-bolt clamps are the pair to use on silicone; a perforated band bites into the wall and can start a leak where it has cut in. Both types are in the clamp range.

• Step up to 50 mm only if the pipe genuinely measures 50 mm

What is the difference between 48 mm and 50 mm hose?

Two millimetres of bore, and it is enough to matter. A 50 mm hose on a 1 7/8" pipe leaves the clamp doing all the sealing work, and on a boost line that is where it lets go first.
