50mm Yellow Tail Abrasive Suction Hose

PSHYT050 is the 50 mm Yellow Tail, the size that goes on small trash and dewatering pumps where the water is carrying sand rather than running clean. The bore is a black high nitrile content PVC, smooth so grit does not catch, and the raised rigid PVC helix on the outside is both the vacuum resistance and the wear surface that takes the scrape when the hose is dragged. Outside diameter 63.4 mm, working pressure 0.5 MPa (73 psi) at 20°C, vacuum rating 600 mm Hg and a minimum bend radius of 350 mm.

Compatibility and fitting

• Fit 50 mm camlocks over the helix and clamp; see camlock fittings
• Match the hose bore to the pump inlet exactly, because a smaller hose starves the pump

What does the 600 mm Hg vacuum rating mean?

It is how much suction the wall will take before the bore starts to close. A pump lifting from a sump or a pit works against that figure, so a hose without a rating like this collapses and the pump loses prime.
