57mm (2 1/4") Blue Silicone Radiator/Intercooler Hose

57 mm (2 1/4") is the first of the aftermarket boost pipe sizes, the bore fabricators use when 2" piping starts to choke the flow. It also covers radiator joins on larger four cylinder and six cylinder engines. The wall is high performance silicone on four plies of polyester fabric, and its service band runs from -55°C to 180°C. Coolant and charge air only — the supplier does not rate it for fuel or oil transfer.

Compatibility and fitting

• Silicone needs a smooth band or T-bolt clamp. A perforated band bites into the wall, and on a pressurised charge air join that groove is where it starts to leak. Look at the clamp range for the right band.

• Cut square with a sharp blade so the end seats flat on the pipe
• Fuel and oil transfer needs automotive fuel hose

Will it join to aluminium boost pipe?

Yes, that is the usual pairing. A beaded pipe end holds the hose far better than a plain one, and with a T-bolt clamp behind the bead the join will take everything the wall is rated for.
