70mm (2 3/4") Blue Silicone Radiator/Intercooler Hose

70 mm (2 3/4") starts the large end of the range, where the work is truck cooling, larger turbo systems and machinery rather than car engine bays. Coolant volume at this bore is significant, so the four plies of polyester fabric under the silicone are doing real work holding the section open on a bend. As with every hose in this range, it is not suitable for fuel or oil transfer.

Compatibility and fitting

• Clamp with a smooth band or T-bolt sized for a 70 mm hose over a 70 mm pipe; perforated bands bite into silicone and should be left for rubber. The clamp range lists suitable bands.

• Support long runs so the hose is not carrying the weight of the pipework
• Fuel and oil transfer needs automotive fuel hose

Why silicone on a truck rather than rubber?

Rubber hardens and cracks with heat cycling, and a truck cooling system cycles all day. Silicone holds its flexibility across the full -55°C to 180°C band, so the hose is not the thing that ends the shift.
