Description
A hex plug blanks a female port. The thread is male BSPT and the head is hexagonal, so it can be pulled up properly with a spanner and backed out again later. Twelve sizes in 316 stainless from 1/8" up to 4", carrying a maximum working pressure of 150 psi.
Key features
- Male BSPT thread with a hex head
- 316 stainless steel

Applications
- Blanking a spare port on a pump body or a manifold
- Closing the unused leg of a tee
- Sealing a tapping that is kept for future instrumentation
- Marine and food plant where a steel plug would rust into the thread
Compatibility and fitting
- Screws into any female BSP port of the same size
- To close a male stub instead, order a stainless cap
- Commonly fitted to a spare leg of a female tee
- Related parts: brass and stainless fittings
Hex plug or hollow plug?
This is the solid hex-head pattern, driven from outside with a spanner, so it can be fitted and removed in a confined port without a socket set. Whichever pattern you use, the plug goes into a female thread; a male stub needs a cap.
