25mm (1") Blue Silicone Radiator/Intercooler Hose

The 25 mm (1") bore is the smallest straight length in this blue silicone radiator and intercooler range, and it takes the small work: bypass loops, heater returns and short coolant joins on cars and light plant. One thing to be clear about before ordering — silicone carries coolant and charge air, and the supplier states it is not suitable for fuel or oil transfer. Oil splash on the outside of the hose is fine; petrol or diesel through the bore is not. Order SILRH-100 for a 250 mm or 500 mm piece, SILRH-100X36 for the metre.

Compatibility and fitting

• Clamp it with a smooth band or T-bolt from the clamp range, not a perforated band: silicone is softer than rubber and the slots bite into the wall as the clamp is tightened
• Measured on bore, so 25 mm hose slides over a 25 mm spigot
• Below this bore, the blue silicone heater hose covers small heater and coolant lines
• Petrol and diesel lines take automotive fuel hose, never silicone

Why can silicone not be used for fuel or oil transfer?

Silicone softens and swells in contact with petrol, diesel and engine oil, which is why the supplier rules the hose out for fuel and oil transfer. Splash resistance on the outside of the hose is a separate property, and this hose has it.

Which length should I order?

250 mm and 500 mm suit a single join. The 1 m length gives enough to cut two or three short pieces and keep an offcut in the toolbox.
