38mm Marine Wet Exhaust Hose

The number on this hose is the bore, not the outside. RMWE038 measures 38 mm inside, which is the figure that has to match the exhaust spigot or the elbow you are replacing; the corrugated cover adds diameter over the top of it and tells you nothing about fit. Inside that bore is a smooth tube that resists exhaust gases, wrapped in high-strength synthetic cord with a steel wire helix so the wall does not collapse when the run has to bend.

Compatibility and fitting

• Check the spigot with a vernier before ordering: 38 mm hose will not stretch onto a 45 mm spigot

Is 38 mm the inside or the outside measurement?

Inside. Marine exhaust hose is always specified on bore, so a 38 mm hose slips over a 38 mm spigot. Measuring the old hose across its corrugated cover is the most common way to order the wrong size.
