40mm Layflat Hose Red

Red layflat in a 40 mm bore, LF040R, is the heavier-walled version of the blue hose and it is rated 150 psi (10.3 bar) at 20°C, double what the blue 40 mm takes. The colour is the other half of the point: when two lines run off one pump set, red and blue tell them apart at a glance. Outside diameter is 44 mm. Discharge duty only, as there is no helix to keep the bore open against vacuum.

• Takes a 40 mm camlock or hose tail; see camlock fittings
• Two clamps per shank, from the hose clamp range
• The blue hose in the same bore is on blue layflat hose, useful as the second colour
• Suction stays on helix hose such as grey PVC suction hose

What does red layflat hose do that blue does not?

It carries a heavier wall and a higher pressure rating, and the colour keeps two lines separate on a site. The bore, the fittings and the discharge-only rule are the same.

Can I run it from a pump inlet?

No. Higher pressure rating does not mean vacuum rating. Red layflat still folds flat when a pump draws on it, so the inlet needs a helix-reinforced suction hose.
