50mm Rubber Water Suction Hose

The 50 mm rubber suction hose, RWS050mm, is the size most fire-fighting, irrigation and cartage pumps are plumbed with. Its steel wire helix keeps a 50 mm bore fully open while the pump is drawing, so flow is not throttled by a hose sucking itself flat. The synthetic cord carcass also carries 10 bar (145 psi), which means the same hose can run on the discharge side if the job calls for it. Cover is black smooth rubber, -20 to +80°C.

Can a 50 mm suction hose be used as a discharge hose?

Yes. It is rated 10 bar (145 psi), so it handles pump pressure as well as vacuum. It is heavier and dearer than a layflat, so most sites keep it for the inlet leg.

How long can the suction run be?

Keep it as short and as straight as the site allows. Every metre of hose and every bend costs the pump lift, and a long inlet run is the usual reason a pump will not prime.
