Nylon BSP Female/Female Elbow

Female at both ends, joining two male threaded pipes or fittings at a right angle. It is the elbow for turning a corner between two components that both present a male thread, which describes most tank fittings and most pump bodies.

• Certified to AS/NZS 4020, so it is approved for potable water
• Precision heavy duty tapered BSP threads
• 1600 kPa at 20°C for 6 mm to 50 mm, 1200 kPa at 65 mm, 1000 kPa from 80 mm to 100 mm
• Will not corrode, unlike brass or steel, in fertiliser, bore water and coastal air

Compatibility and fitting

• Both ends accept a male thread; if one side is female, use the male to female elbow
• Support long runs so the elbow does not carry the weight of the pipe
• Seal threads with a thread sealing paste or thread tape
• Nylon threads strip more easily than brass: tighten by hand and finish with a light nip, never a long lever
• Check the pressure band for the size you are buying, as it steps down above 50 mm

Why are there two elbows?

Because plumbing presents both thread genders. Using the wrong one means adding a nipple, which is an extra joint and an extra leak for no reason.

Will nylon take the weight of a pipe run?

Not as a bracket. Clip or support the pipe near the elbow; nylon fittings seal joints, they do not hold structures up.
