Description
A moulded rubber elbow does what a straight hose cannot: it holds a 90 degree turn without kinking, which is why radiator and heater plumbing that has to change direction uses one. These elbows carry hot water and coolant, with a synthetic rubber tube, high strength synthetic cord reinforcement and a black smooth synthetic rubber cover, over a temperature range of 0 to 100°C. The published bore table runs from RUHB13 at 13 mm up to RUHB57 at 57 mm, and RUHB63, RUHB75 and RUHB100 complete the range.
Key features
- Moulded 90 degree elbow for coolant and hot water
- Synthetic rubber tube with high strength synthetic cord reinforcement
- Black smooth synthetic rubber cover
- Temperature range 0 to 100°C
- Bores listed as RUHB13 13 mm, RUHB16 16 mm, RUHB19 19 mm, RUHB25 25 mm and RUHB31 31 mm
- Larger listed bores RUHB38 38 mm, RUHB44 44 mm, RUHB50 50 mm and RUHB57 57 mm
- Also available as RUHB63, RUHB75 and RUHB100
Applications
- Radiator top and bottom hose turns
- Heater and bypass plumbing behind an engine
- Truck, bus and machinery cooling systems
- Marine engine coolant routing in tight spaces
- Replacing a kinked straight hose on a tight bend
Compatibility and fitting
- Order by the bore, measured on the spigot the elbow slides over
- Clamp each leg; spring and worm drive clamps are on hose clamps
- Straight lengths in the same construction are on automotive hoses
Does the stock code tell me the bore?
For the listed sizes it does: RUHB25 is 25 mm and RUHB50 is 50 mm. Measure the spigot rather than assuming, because a hose that is one size out will either split when forced on or leak past the clamp.
Why not just bend a straight hose?
A straight hose forced into a right angle collapses on the inside of the turn and restricts coolant flow, which shows up as overheating under load. The moulded elbow keeps the bore round through the bend.
