Screwed Brass Elbow Male x Male

The No. 48 elbow is male at both ends, so it turns a corner between two female threaded ports. It is the elbow for joining two pieces of equipment that both present a female port, which a female to female elbow cannot do without adding two nipples.

Compatibility and fitting

• Both ends screw into a female port; where one side is male, use the No. 25 male to female elbow
• Seal tapered threads with tape or a sealant rated for the fluid
• Brass into brass strips easily: tighten to seal, not to a hard stop
• Do not mix thread standards: a fitting cut to a different standard will start, feel tight and then weep

Which of the three elbows?

No. 48 is male both ends for two female ports. No. 34 is female both ends for two male threads. No. 25 is one of each and drops into a run. Count the thread genders before ordering.

Can I aim it?

Tighten to seal and stop where it points correctly. Never back a tapered thread off to aim a fitting, because that breaks the seal you just made.
