Screwed Brass Tee Female

The No. 35 tee has three female ports at right angles, so it branches a line where all three connections present a male thread. It is the tee most pipework actually needs, because pipe and most equipment outlets are male.

Compatibility and fitting

• All three ports take a male thread; for a male outlet on the branch use the No. 50 tee
• Plug an unused port with a brass plug rather than leaving it open
• Seal tapered threads with tape or a sealant rated for the fluid
• Brass into brass strips easily: tighten to seal, not to a hard stop
• Do not mix thread standards: a fitting cut to a different standard will start, feel tight and then weep

Female tee or male tee?

Count the male threads. Three male threads meeting means the female tee. If one leg has to screw into a female port, you want the No. 50 male tee instead.

Can I add a gauge with one?

Yes. Break the line at a joint, fit the tee, and run the gauge off the spare port. It is the standard way of adding a tapping without cutting pipe.
