Screwed Brass Tee Male

The No. 50 tee branches a threaded line three ways, with one male outlet and two female. The male leg screws into the port you are branching from, and the two female legs take the lines going out, which is the arrangement most take offs actually need.

Compatibility and fitting

• Where all three legs need to accept a male thread, use an all female tee
• Plug an unused leg with a screwed brass plug rather than leaving it open
• Seal tapered threads with tape or a sealant rated for the fluid you are carrying
• Brass into brass strips easily: tighten to seal, not to a hard stop
• Do not mix thread standards: a fitting cut to a different standard will start, feel tight and then weep

How do I add a gauge to an existing line?

Break the line at a convenient joint, fit the tee, and run the gauge off one female leg. It is the standard way of adding a tapping without cutting pipe.

Can I cap one leg for future use?

Yes, and it is good practice. A capped leg costs a plug now and saves breaking the line again later.
