Spiral Guard HDPE

HDPE spiral guard wraps around a hydraulic hose to take the abrasion that would otherwise wear through the cover. It is the cheapest insurance on a machine there is: a wrap of spiral guard costs a fraction of the hose it protects, and far less than the downtime when a hose bursts against a boom.

• Supplied in 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 10 m and 15 m lengths, or a 20 m box

• Self-lubricating, so it slides into place easily and does not chafe the hose it protects
• Rounded edges and a domed profile, so it does not cut into the hose cover

Compatibility and fitting

• Size the guard on the outside diameter of the hose, not the bore
• It can be wound onto a hose already fitted to the machine, so there is no need to break the line
• Leave the guard slightly loose so the hose can still flex; a tight wrap transfers the abrasion instead of absorbing it
• Matching hose is in the hydraulic hose range

Can it be fitted without removing the hose?

Yes. That is the main reason it is specified. The spiral shape winds on over a hose already in place, so a worn run can be protected during a service without breaking into the hydraulic system.

What is MDG 41?

It is the New South Wales mining design guideline covering fluid power system safety, which is why spiral guard is often mandatory on mine site plant. If your site works to MDG 41, confirm the flame retardant or FRAS version is the one you need.
