Stainless Steel Reducing Nipple

Male BSPT at both ends but a different size at each: a reducing nipple joins two female ports that do not match, in one part instead of a nipple, a socket and another nipple. Twenty-two steps in 316 stainless, from 1/4" x 1/8" up to 4" x 3", rated to a maximum working pressure of 150 psi.

Applications

• Landing a smaller valve on a larger pump port
• Taking a 2" tank outlet down to a 1 1/4" transfer line
• Instrument and dosing take-offs where the tapping is oversized
• Salt-water and caustic service, where a plated reducer corrodes at the thread

Compatibility and fitting

• Both ends screw into female BSP ports, including a round socket
• If both threads you are joining are male, use a reducing socket
• To reduce inside one port only, a BSP bush is neater
• Continue in stainless steel fittings

Reducing nipple or bush?

A reducing nipple is male at both ends and bridges two female ports. A bush is male outside and female inside, so it changes the size of one port. Two female ports of different sizes need the nipple; a single oversized female port needs the bush.
