Standard Compression Elbow Male MBSP

The male elbow (Brass No. 5) takes a tube into a female threaded port and turns it 90 degrees at the same time. It is the fitting for a compressor outlet, a valve body or a gauge port where the tube has to leave at a right angle and there is no room for a straight connector and a separate bend.

Compatibility and fitting

• The thread screws into a female port; check whether you need a female connector instead
• Seal the thread with tape or a thread sealant suited to the fluid
• The compression end takes a nut and olive sized to the tube, not to the thread
• Use a spiggot in nylon tube and on high pressure joints

Male or female elbow?

A male thread screws into a female port. If the equipment presents a male thread, you want the female connector instead. Check the port before ordering.

How tight should the thread go?

To the point of seal plus a nip. Brass threads into brass will strip well before you feel a hard stop, so stop when it seals rather than when it stops turning.
