About Rubber Heater Hose

Heater hose is the coolant line most likely to be replaced on an older vehicle: it runs hot, sits near the exhaust and hardens with age. Types of heater hose we stock

• 12 mm (1/2"): small heater and bypass lines on passenger cars and light commercials.
• 16 mm (5/8"): the common heater core size on cars and four-wheel drives.
• 20 mm (3/4"): trucks, buses, marine engines and plant.

Choosing the right heater hose

• Size: match the hose inside diameter to the spigot outside diameter; a hose that is a size too big will weep under a clamp.
• Material: rubber for standard replacement; silicone for performance, heavy-duty and high-heat engine bays.
• Fluid: coolant and water only. Fuel and oil lines need hose from our fuel line range.
• Clamping: use a stainless worm-drive or spring clamp from our hose clamps range at each end.
