About Rubber Windshield/Vacuum/Radiator Overflow Hose
Rubber vacuum hose handles the small-bore plumbing that keeps a vehicle working: windscreen washer feeds, engine vacuum lines and the radiator overflow to the recovery bottle. It stays flexible under a hot bonnet and grips a spigot without needing a clamp on most joints. Hose Suppliers Australia stocks three bores in our Brisbane warehouse.
Sizes of vacuum hose we stock
- 2.8 mm (7/64"): fine vacuum signal lines and instrument connections.
- 5.6 mm (7/32"): the common washer and vacuum size on most vehicles.
- 6.3 mm (1/4"): larger vacuum runs and radiator overflow lines.
- Lengths: 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8 m and 10 m cut lengths, or a 15.2 m spool.
Choosing the right vacuum hose
- Size: measure the bore of the old hose or the outside of the spigot, and aim for a firm push fit.
- Fluid: air, vacuum, washer fluid and coolant overflow only. Use fuel line hose for petrol and diesel.
- Heat: keep the run clear of exhaust and turbo components, and use heater hose anywhere the coolant is under pressure.
- Retention: a small spring or ear clamp is worth fitting on vacuum joins that see vibration.
