How much hose should I buy?

Run a piece of string along the route the line takes, add the length that pushes onto each steel tube, then round up to the next cut length. Two joins on a 4WD cooler installation typically take well under 3m, and the 15.2m spool only pays off in a workshop.

Does it suit power steering coolers?

Where the cooler circulates the same automatic transmission fluid at similar pressure, yes. High pressure power steering feed lines are a different job and are not covered by a 250 psi cooler hose.
