12mm (1/2") Two Wire Hydraulic Hose 4000psi

12 mm (1/2") two wire hose at 4000 psi is the general service size on loaders, tractors and tipper hoists, and the one most workshops keep on the shelf. Two high tensile steel wire braids to SAE 100R2AT, a seamless synthetic rubber tube for oil and water, and a synthetic rubber cover that puts up with weather, oil and rubbing. Cut per metre or taken by the coil.

Compatibility and fitting

• Takes two wire crimp fittings and ferrules sized for 12 mm (1/2") R2AT hose
• Check the adaptors and couplers as well as the hose: 4000 psi at the hose means nothing behind a lower rated adaptor
• Route with a generous bend radius and no twist, then guard the rub points with HDPE spiral guard
• If the circuit runs well under this figure, single wire hydraulic hose in the same bore costs less

How much hose should I allow for movement?

Add slack so the hose is never pulled straight at full ram extension, and keep it clear of the pivot so it is not stretched and squashed on every cycle. Measure the old hose with the ram out, not retracted.

Do I have to keep the same hose the machine came with?

You have to match or better its bore, its rating and its end fittings. Reading the layline off the old hose is the quickest way to be sure before you cut it off.
