Description

At 16 mm (5/8") the rating steps down to 24 bar (350 psi), because the same single textile braid is holding back a larger internal area. Part SAER610 is the size for larger return lines and for transfer work where volume matters and pressure does not. Oil resistant synthetic rubber tube, textile braid, and a cover built to take weather, oil and abrasion.

Key features

  • 16 mm (5/8") bore, part SAER610
  • Maximum working pressure 24 bar (350 psi)
  • Reinforced with a single textile braid
  • Tube is oil resistant synthetic rubber
  • Synthetic rubber cover for weather, oil and abrasion
  • -40°C to +100°C, with an air limit of +70°C
  • Available cut from 1 m to 20 m, in 50 m and 100 m coils, or on a 150 m spool

Applications

  • Larger return lines back to a reservoir
  • Bulk oil and diesel transfer
  • Low pressure water and washdown feeds
  • Air ring mains on stationary plant
  • Chemical transfer within the listed range

Compatibility and fitting

  • Goes onto 16 mm push on barbed fittings, no ferrule and no press
  • Do not carry the 400 psi figure from the smaller bores across to this size: 16 mm is 24 bar (350 psi)
  • Larger bore hose is heavier when full, so support long runs and protect them with HDPE spiral guard
  • Pressure duty at 16 mm belongs on two wire hydraulic hose

Why is the 16 mm rated lower than the 12 mm?

Pressure acts on the area of the bore, so one textile braid restrains less as the bore grows. In this range 6 mm through 12 mm are 28 bar (400 psi), 16 mm is 24 bar (350 psi) and the larger bores drop to 17 bar (250 psi).

Does the cover matter on a return line?

It is usually what fails first. Return hoses lie against frames and get walked on, and once the cover wears through, the braid is exposed to water and the hose fails from the outside in.

The full size list is in SAE R6 push on hose.
