16mm (5/8") Two Wire Hydraulic Hose 3660psi

16 mm (5/8") two wire hydraulic hose, rated 3660 psi to SAE 100R2AT. This bore carries the main pressure and return lines on mid sized machines, where flow matters as much as pressure and a narrower hose would heat the oil and rob the circuit. Two high tensile steel wire braids sit under a synthetic rubber cover that stands up to oil, weather and abrasion.

Compatibility and fitting

• Crimp to two wire ends and ferrules made for 16 mm (5/8") R2AT hose
• Every part counts: fittings, adaptors and couplers must all be rated to 3660 psi or better for the line to hold that figure
• Larger bore hose is stiffer, so allow a wider bend radius and protect contact points with HDPE spiral guard
• Low pressure returns at this bore can run on hydraulic push on hose instead

Why does the rating fall as the bore gets bigger?

The same two braids restrain a larger internal area, so the pressure they can hold drops with every step up in bore. Across this range 6 mm is rated 5800 psi and 25 mm is rated 2400 psi, with 16 mm at 3660 psi in between.

Is 16 mm the same as 5/8 inch hose?

Yes, they are two names for the same nominal bore. The outside diameter differs between hose types, so size a replacement on the inside diameter and the fitting stem, not on how thick the old hose looked.
