Description
175 mm is a trunk bore that sits between the two common sizes, and it is stocked because plant built to it exists and a 150 mm duct will not reach. It handles main collection runs, fume trunks and heavy chip lines. Black synthetic rubber over a wire helix, corrugated outside, -10°C to 125°C. The supplier's scope is dust, chip, air intake and non combustible fume — combustible material in the airstream is outside it.
Key features
- 175 mm nominal bore
- Wire helix through a black synthetic rubber wall
- Corrugated profile, flexible on a large run
- -10°C to 125°C
- Abrasion resistant, UV resistant
- DRFH175 in 1 m to 9 m and a 10 m coil
Applications
- Trunk runs on medium extraction systems
- Fume extraction where the plant is built to 175 mm
- Heavy chip transfer
- Collector inlet connections
- Large-volume air intake
Compatibility and fitting
- The 175 mm figure is the inside diameter, matching a 175 mm spigot
- Band it in a corrugation valley using a clamp from the clamp range
- Take the weight on hangers, not on the connections at each end
- For a lighter wall on clean-air duty, see grey Plastiflex ducting
Is 175 mm worth it over 200 mm?
Only if that is what the plant is built to. Where you have a free choice, pick the bore your fan and branches are sized for; going larger drops the air velocity and material starts settling in the duct instead of moving through it.
How is it handled on site?
A trunk this size is heavy once it is full, so hang it at regular intervals and keep the flexible sections short. Long unsupported spans sag between the hangers and collect material in the low spot.
The full bore range is in black rubber air intake ducting.
