20mm Rubber Petrol & Oil Suction Hose

20mm rubber petrol and oil suction hose (RPOS020mm) is the smallest bore in the range and the one that goes on a drum pump pickup or a compact transfer unit. A steel wire helix is wound into the synthetic cord reinforcement, and that helix is the whole point: it holds the 20 mm bore round while the pump pulls a vacuum on it. A plain delivery hose in the same position flattens and starves the pump.

Compatibility and fitting

• Recommended clamps SC028, or SC028SS in stainless for marine and washdown work
• Order the clamp from the hose clamp range and fit it clear of the helix crest
• Where only the pressure leg is being replaced, petrol and oil delivery hose is the cheaper build
• Trim between helix turns so the cut end seats flat on the tail

Why does a suction hose need a helix?

A pump on the inlet side takes pressure out of the hose rather than putting it in. Without a rigid helix the atmospheric pressure outside squashes the wall inwards and the line closes up.
