3.2mm Clear Yellow Tygon Hose F-4040A

3.2 mm Tygon F-4040A is the step up from the primer-line size, and it is what most small two-stroke carburettors take as their fuel feed. It shares the 50 psi rating of the 2.4 mm bore, so it is the largest size in the range that still holds that ceiling, and it works from 0 to 74°C. The clear yellow wall makes a partial blockage or an air lock obvious without pulling the line off the barb.

Compatibility and fitting

• Fits a 3.2 mm barb; warm the end briefly in hot water if the tube is stiff to push on
• Use a purpose-made fuel line for road vehicles, such as SAE30R7 automotive fuel hose
• For water rather than fuel, clear vinyl tube costs less

Will the tubing go hard over time?

All plasticised tubing stiffens with age and exposure to fuel. Keep the run out of direct sun, and replace it when it no longer springs back after being squeezed rather than waiting for a split.

Can it be used below freezing?

The published range starts at zero, so it is not rated for sub-zero service. Below that the wall loses flexibility and cracking at the barb becomes likely.
