6mm (1/4") Clear Multi Purpose Hose

6 mm (1/4") clear braided PVC hose is the smallest braided bore in the range, used where a line has to hold pressure but stay small and flexible: instrument air, dosing lines and beverage work. The clear PVC wall carries a blue tint and a red tracer, with high tenacity polyester yarn braid taking the pressure and a UV stabilised outer taking the sun.

• Nominal inside diameter 6 mm (1/4")
• Working pressure 1.6 MPa (232 psi) at 20°C, built to a 4:1 safety factor
• Operating temperature -5°C to +60°C
• Red tracer high tenacity polyester yarn braid
• Meets AS/NZS 2554, and AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact
• Clear wall with a blue tint, so flow and blockages are visible
• Cut to length from 1 m, or in coils (20 m, 100 m and 300 m)
• Not suitable as a permanent fuel line

Compatibility and fitting

• Fits a 6 mm hose tail; secure with a hose clamp, two per end under pressure
• Brass and stainless tails to suit are in the brass fittings range
• For permanent petrol or oil lines use petrol and oil delivery hose
• Braid holds pressure, not vacuum: use a helix reinforced hose on the suction side of a pump

Braided or plain clear tube at 6 mm?

The braid is what carries the pressure. Unreinforced clear tube of the same bore is rated far lower and will balloon and blow off a barb where this hose holds at 232 psi.
