6mm (1/4")Two Wire Hydraulic Hose 5800 psi

At 6 mm (1/4") this is the smallest bore we hold in two wire, and the highest rated: 5800 psi working pressure behind two braids of high tensile steel wire. It is listed to SAE 100R2AT. Small bore, high pressure lines are usually control and pilot work, where the oil does not have to move fast but the circuit sees full system pressure and every valve shock that comes with it.

Compatibility and fitting

• Crimped two wire ends and ferrules cut for 6 mm (1/4") R2AT hose, on the die and crimp diameter the fitting maker specifies
• A 5800 psi hose behind a lower rated coupler gives you the coupler's rating: the weakest part of an assembly sets the whole line
• Small bore hose whips hardest when a line lets go, so clamp it and sleeve rub points with HDPE spiral guard

What does SAE 100R2AT mean?

It is the specification this hose is listed against: a two wire braid hydraulic hose with a synthetic rubber tube and cover. Quoting it lets a fitter match a replacement to what the machine was built with rather than guessing from the outside diameter.

Why buy 6 mm two wire rather than single wire?

Because the second braid is what carries 5800 psi. If the relief valve setting is above what a one braid hose is rated for, no amount of good fitting practice makes the single wire hose safe on that circuit.
