76mm PVC Water Suction Hose Grey

PSHG076 is the largest grey PVC suction hose we stock, a 76 mm (3") bore for 3 inch trash and dewatering pumps. It is the inlet hose, not the discharge hose: the rigid PVC helix through the wall is there to resist the vacuum a pump generates, which is exactly what a flat or plain-walled hose cannot do. Outside diameter is 88 mm, rating 0.4 MPa (58 psi) at 20°C, supplied in 20 m coils.

Compatibility and fitting

• 76 mm camlocks and tails suit this bore; see camlocks
• Fit a strainer at the wet end, since a trash pump at this size will draw whatever is in the sump
• Clamp to the 88 mm outside diameter with a band clamp from hose clamps
• Discharge at this volume runs on 75 mm or 100 mm blue layflat hose

Why is the pressure rating only 0.4 MPa at this size?

Bore area works against wall strength, so the biggest hose in a range carries the lowest rating. At 76 mm it is 0.4 MPa (58 psi), against 0.9 MPa (130 psi) for the 25 mm size.

Is this hose stiff to handle?

It is the heaviest of the grey range and the helix sets a wide bend radius. Plan the run before cutting the coil, and support it near the pump so the coupling is not carrying the weight.
