8mm (5/16") Clear Multi Purpose Hose

8 mm (5/16") clear braided PVC hose (part PHCMP08) is a small bore pressure line for air, water and light transfer, where the braid lets you run real pressure through a hose you can still see through. The clear PVC wall carries a blue tint and a red tracer, with high tenacity polyester yarn braid taking the pressure and a UV stabilised outer layer taking the sun.

• Nominal inside diameter 8 mm (5/16")
• Working pressure 1.6 MPa (232 psi) at 20°C, built to a 4:1 safety factor
• Operating temperature -5°C to +60°C
• Red tracer high tenacity polyester yarn braid
• Meets AS/NZS 2554, and AS/NZS 2070 for plastics in food contact
• Clear wall with a blue tint, so flow and blockages are visible
• UV stabilised outer with a smooth finish
• Cut to length or supplied in coils (20 m, 100 m and 300 m)
• Not suitable as a permanent fuel line

Compatibility and fitting

• Fits a 8 mm hose tail; secure with a hose clamp, two per end under pressure
• Brass and stainless tails to suit are in the brass fittings range
• For permanent petrol or oil lines use petrol and oil delivery hose
• For suction duty use a helix reinforced hose; braid holds pressure, not vacuum

Why braided rather than plain clear tube?

The polyester braid is what carries the pressure. Unbraided clear tube at this bore manages around 58 psi; this hose manages 232, and it will not balloon or burst at a fitting.
