It carries chip, sawdust and general dust on extraction branches, and air on intake runs. Black synthetic rubber, wire helix, corrugated outside; rated by the supplier for non combustible fume extraction, not for anything that can ignite.

Can I reduce 90 mm down to a smaller machine port?

Yes, with a reducer at the machine end, and it is the right way round to do it: keep the larger bore for the length of the run and step down only at the last connection, so the branch is not choked over its whole length.

How do I stop the clamp slipping off the corrugation?

Seat the band in a valley between two crests and tighten it there. On a corrugated wall a clamp sitting on a crest will walk off the end under vibration.
