Description

40 mm is the smallest bore of this black rubber ducting, and it does the jobs plastic ducting keeps failing at: engine and compressor air intake, small extraction arms and mobile plant. The wall is black synthetic rubber over a wire helix, with a corrugated outside that lets it bend hard without shutting the bore. One limit to read before specifying it — the supplier rates it for non combustible fume extraction, so anything that could ignite in the airstream is out of scope.

Key features

  • Nominal bore 40 mm
  • Black synthetic rubber wall with a wire helix
  • Corrugated external profile for tight bends
  • -10°C to 125°C
  • Abrasion resistant against dust and chip, UV resistant outdoors
  • Part DRFH040, cut from 1 m to 9 m or supplied as a 10 m coil

Applications

  • Engine and compressor air intake
  • Small extraction arms on a bench
  • Mobile plant and generator breathing
  • Fine dust pick-up at a single tool
  • Short outdoor air runs exposed to sun

Compatibility and fitting

  • Sized on the inside diameter, so 40 mm ducting slides onto a 40 mm spigot
  • Secure it with a worm drive clamp from the clamp range, sized over the corrugation
  • Where a clear wall makes blockages easier to find, see polyurethane ducting
  • Lighter general extraction is covered by grey Plastiflex ducting

How do I cut it to length?

Cut between two turns of the helix with a fine blade, then snip the wire itself with side cutters and fold the end back so the cut wire does not sit proud where hands go.

Will 40 mm ducting take hot air?

Up to 125°C, which covers compressor and engine intake air comfortably. Below -10°C the rubber stiffens and the supplier's range stops there.

Bores from 40 mm to 300 mm are listed in black rubber air intake ducting.
