US Coast Guard Approved Barrier Fuel Hose
About US Coast Guard Approved Barrier Fuel Hose
A fuel line inside a boat has a harder job than one in a car: petrol vapour must not permeate through the wall into an enclosed bilge. This marine fuel hose is US Coast Guard approved and built with a barrier liner to hold that permeation down. We stock five bores, cut to length or supplied by the coil and spool from our Brisbane warehouse.
Sizes of marine fuel hose we stock
- 6 mm (1/4") and 8 mm (5/16"): small-bore feed and return lines, and portable tanks.
- 10 mm (3/8"): the common feed size on outboard and small inboard installations.
- 12 mm (1/2"): larger feed lines and tank transfer, also on a 152.4 m reel.
- 16 mm (5/8"): high-flow feed and vent work on larger vessels.
Every size is sold from 1 m up, with spools for boat builders. Filler and vent work is covered by our USCG approved fuel filler hose.
Choosing the right marine fuel hose
- Bore: match the inside diameter to the barb on the tank, filter and engine. Do not step down a size to make a hose fit.
- Approval: use hose marked for marine fuel service on any line inside the vessel. Automotive fuel hose does not meet the same permeation requirements.
- Routing: keep the run clear of exhaust components and support it against chafe.
- Clamping: finish each joint with a 316 stainless hose clamp so it outlasts the hose.
- Fittings: use marine-grade stainless steel fittings or brass fittings to suit the tank and engine ports.
